Turn millimeters into pixels, or pixels into millimeters, at any DPI. Everything runs in your browser — no uploads, no sign-up, no limits.
1 mm = 3.7795 px at 96 DPI (screens and CSS) and 11.811 px at 300 DPI (print).
The formula is px = mm × DPI ÷ 25.4
How to convert mm to px
Five moves and you're done. The whole process takes a few seconds for a single value, or a few more for a whole list.
-
1
Choose a direction
Pick MM → PX or PX → MM at the top of the studio.
-
2
Enter your value
Type any millimeter or pixel number. The result updates as you type.
-
3
Pick a DPI
Use 96 for screens and CSS, 300 for print, or type a custom value.
-
4
Choose rounding
Full precision, 4 decimals, 2 decimals, or whole numbers — depending on what your target needs.

5
Copy or batch
Grab the result with one click. Need many values? Paste them into the batch box, separated by lines or commas, or upload a CSV.
The formula
There are 25.4 millimeters in one inch, and DPI tells you how many pixels fit in each inch. That single constant links the two systems.
Pixels to millimeters: mm = px × 25.4 ÷ DPI
01 Worked examples
Which DPI should you use?
A pixel has no fixed physical size. The same pixels cover a different number of millimeters depending on DPI, so choose the DPI that matches where the image will be used.
| DPI | Where it belongs | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 96 | The CSS standard | In CSS, 1 inch is defined as 96 px. The value for websites and most screen work. |
| 72 | Legacy convention | Matches points in Word and PDFs — 1 mm ≈ 2.83 pt. |
| 150 | Draft prints, posters, banners | Designed for output viewed from a distance. |
| 300 | Standard print quality | Photos, flyers, brochures, business cards — anything held in the hand. |
| 600 | Fine line art and small detailed prints | Files grow quickly, and for photos the benefit is rarely visible. |

mm and px in CSS and JavaScript
CSS already has a physical mm unit, so you can write width: 10mm directly. Browsers define 1 mm as about 3.78 CSS pixels — but a screen may not display it at true real-world size, because screens differ in pixel density.
- CSSFor print stylesheets the
mmunit works well and maps reliably to physical output. - WEBFor on-screen layouts stick with
px,remor percentages. Physical units on screens are not dependable.

On-screen size depends on your display's pixel density, so the bars above may not match a real ruler exactly. In a print stylesheet or PDF export, they will.
/* Physical size — reliable in print, approximate on screen */
.card {
width: 85.6mm; /* standard credit card width */
height: 54mm;
border-radius: 3.18mm;
}
/* Screen layout — use px or rem instead */
.card--screen {
width: 324px; /* 85.6 mm at 96 DPI */
height: 204px; /* 54 mm at 96 DPI */
}

console.log(mmToPx(20, 300)); // 236.2204724409449
console.log(pxToMm(200, 96)); // 52.916666666666664
96 is used — the CSS default. For print output, always pass 300 explicitly.
Common mistakes to avoid
Five issues account for almost every wrong answer people get from an mm-to-px conversion.
Assuming one DPI everywhere
Confirm the DPI your design tool or printer expects before converting. 72 and 96 give very different answers.
Rounding too early
Convert first, then round once at the end. Rounding intermediate steps throws the answer off by several pixels.
Confusing mm and cm
10 mm is 1 cm. A size entered in the wrong unit is ten times off.
Enlarging low-resolution images
If you need 2480 px but only have 800, the print will look soft. Start from the largest original you have.
Forgetting bleed
Many printers ask for 3 mm of bleed on each edge. At 300 DPI that is about 35 px. Check your printer's guide.
